Support the return of weekday off-leash privileges in the Nethermead and explore the possibility of a Nethermead Dog Run in the vicinity of the hilltop water fountain. Over the summer, we have gathered 1000 signatures that were passed on to Tupper Thomas, Prospect Park Alliance's Administrator. Believe it or not, Prospect Park's Administration clearly recognizes that 5 p.m. off-leash hours worked for the past ten years to the benefit of all park users, not just dog owners. They too, would like to see them restored.

As for changing the law to allow certain parks to restore there lost privileges? If anyone is having Thanksgiving diner with the Mayor; the City Council President or Park's Commissioner Benepe, make a pitch for our cause. 5 pm off-leash hours worked fine for ten years; we would like to see them restored to Prospect Park.

In the meantime we will gather even more signatures..

Support responsible off-leash hours in the Nethermead; on weekdays between the hours of 5 p.m. until 9 a.m.

Afternoon off-leash in the Nethermead is not something Prospect Park's dog community demands as an "extra" over everyone else in the city but a return to a responsible weekday policy carefully worked out with the Prospect Park Alliance over ten years ago.

If we hadn't had the Nethermead weekday afternoon privileges and the respect of Prospect Park's dog owners, there would have been no model for responsible city wide off-leash which is now one year old.
